Regression discontinuity designs for time‐to‐event outcomes: An approach using accelerated failure time models

چکیده

Abstract Regression discontinuity designs (RDDs) have been developed for the estimation of treatment effects using observational data, where a is administered an externally defined decision rule, linked to continuous assignment variable. Typically, RDDs applied situations outcome interest and non-temporal. Conversely, time-to-event outcomes received less attention, despite such being common in many applications. We explore subject right censoring. An accelerated failure time (AFT) approach used establish effect estimate fuzzy RDD (where not always strictly according rule). This robust different levels fuzziness unobserved confounding, assessed simulation studies compares favourably established structural AFT models. A motivating example presented which models are fitted metformin on mortality cardiovascular disease rate real data from UK Primary Care.

Regression Discontinuity Designs Using Covariates∗

We study identification, estimation, and inference in Regression Discontinuity (RD) designs when additional covariates are included in the estimation. Standard RD estimation and inference is based on local polynomial regression methods using two variables: the outcome and the running variable that determines treatment assignment. Applied researchers often include additional covariates in their ...

Accelerated rates regression models for recurrent failure time data.

In this article, we formulate a semiparametric model for counting processes in which the effect of covariates is to transform the time scale for a baseline rate function. We assume an arbitrary dependence structure for the counting process and propose a class of estimating equations for the regression parameters. Asymptotic results for these estimators are derived. In addition, goodness of fit ...

Regression Discontinuity Designs in Epidemiology

When patients receive an intervention based on whether they score below or above some threshold value on a continuously measured random variable, the intervention will be randomly assigned for patients close to the threshold. The regression discontinuity design exploits this fact to estimate causal treatment effects. In spite of its recent proliferation in economics, the regression discontinuit...

Regression calibration in semiparametric accelerated failure time models.

In large cohort studies, it often happens that some covariates are expensive to measure and hence only measured on a validation set. On the other hand, relatively cheap but error-prone measurements of the covariates are available for all subjects. Regression calibration (RC) estimation method (Prentice, 1982, Biometrika 69, 331-342) is a popular method for analyzing such data and has been appli...

G-estimation for Accelerated Failure Time Models

There is an increasing interest in life-course epidemiology (Ben-Shlomo 2007; Ben-Shlomo and Kuh 2002), with the quantification of the effects of exposures over long periods of time. For example, several papers recently have examined the effects of socioeconomic position at different stages of life, and changes in that exposure between these stages, on outcomes including risk of stroke and resp...
